A simple, but nicely made antique newel post from an early 1900s home in
central Illinois. This style is popular because it was found in many homes and
would suit a variety of restoration projects although it's also a great way to
add character into a new build as well. There is a simple decorative trim at
the top and a fluted central post. Please see all of our pictures for details.
This newel post has a cut out to fit a step at the base as pictured which is
very common for these pieces and there is significant wear to the wood of one
base corner as shown. Photos show close ups and measurements of that cut-out.
This antique staircase newel post measures 44 1/4" tall, 7 7/8" across the
widest part of the top, 5 3/4" at the mid section, and 6 3/4" across the base.
There is a small piece of trim missing as shown photo #5 and a split in the
wood shown in photo #8. This item ships free within the continental US. No PO
